"Selective abortion / infanticide costs are heavy - social support for reproductive health needs to be strengthened"
Policy Description: When couples adopt abortion or infanticide to avoid the birth or survival of a baby girl, the sex ratio can be expressed as a function of the probability of abortion, infanticide, abandonment, and child abuse. Using small census data, by estimating the probability of abortion or infanticide in order to ensure the proportion of expected boys in the gender preference model of different families, we can see that some provinces, certain rural areas or cities, and certain ethnic groups in China The probability of taking an abortion or infant is very alarming. This has seriously hurt women’s reproductive health, and women have paid a heavy price for it. The government and the public should pay sufficient attention and take effective measures to ensure maternal and child health.
