Project deadline: May 31, 2018 - May 31, 2020

Project Description:

This research project includes the following two sub-topics:

Sub-topic 1: Analysis of the regional characteristics of social trust models and their influencing factors. This sub-topic will focus on two issues: (1) the regional distribution characteristics of the social trust model. An empirical analysis of the geographical distribution characteristics of China's social trust model. By portraying the regional characteristics of the Chinese trust model, the foundation of this research is laid. (2) Explain the differences in social trust patterns. If there is a specific geographical distribution feature, then whether this social trust model has a causal relationship with agricultural farming methods and short-term historical events. The preliminary research results of this project show that the cultivation method of China's “Southern Rice North Wheat” has a significant impact on the cooperation radius between the North and the South and the social trust model. The rice planting area has a shorter cooperation radius, is more labor intensive, and is more likely to be restricted. Trusted Trust (Limited Trust). Under this sub-topic, we will further explore the impact of possible factors such as geographic endowments, climate, planting methods, and natural disasters on China's regional social trust model.

Sub-question 2: The economic impact of the social trust model. This sub-topic will focus on three issues: (1) the impact of trust levels on rural fund lending practices. People in low-trust areas may prefer informal lending or acquaintance lending, while people with high confidence levels are more likely to obtain financial loans from financial institutions. Ultimately, the social trust model influences the establishment of financial markets. And development. (2) The impact of the level of trust on the organizational form of the enterprise. One of the most direct outcomes of a highly spontaneous social culture is the ability to build modern large enterprises, while a society that lacks extensive trust and spontaneous organization of societies prevails as a family-owned small business. Rely on the government. The difference in the size of the company further affects the economic performance of the company and the region. (3) The interaction between the level of trust and institutions (Formal Institutions) and policies. Social trust level, as an important part of social capital, interacts with formal institutions (Putnam, 1993, 2000). This study will use the villager autonomy and election system in the 1980s as a research perspective to analyze the quality of rural governance under the different levels of trust (such as the supply of public goods, the trust of villagers and village officials, and the corruption behavior of village committees). The difference in impact.
